Try slipping a credit card between the screen and the plastic outside. Slipping it where you can't get it to work such as add etc. It worked for me . apparently the screen slips down (I'm told) in any case. I hope this works for you. I am ecstatic to have my phone paired again...!!!

I used a butter knife, and was able to add my new phone. Thanks much for the information

I am having the exact same issue on my 2014 Toyota Camry! The lower portion of the touch screen to add or remove Bluetooth device is not working. So I am not able to pair my new Phone after the old one died.

Girlfriends 2015 Corolla le is having the same issue. I think I'm going to get the $20 screen replacement off of aliexpress (est delivery date is 9/11 though) and see what it does. Shame, between this and her driver side door rarely locking/unlocking I'm starting to question the build quality on newer toyotas. I loved my old 93 MR2 and currently have a 04 4runner with 220k miles that runs like new. But her car has a lot of squeaking and rattling going on. I think her AC blower motor is going to go out soon as well.

Mine is a 2015 Corolla same exact issue. I'm surprised that they haven't come up with a way to recalibrate the screen. Or reset the computer

I have 2014 same issue! I kept playing with the add key and used the strip on a few different credit cards and finally my iPhone paired! Don’t give up

I cannot connect the phone through blue tooth connectivity. There was no need until Tennessee banned handheld devices. When I tried to connect, the lower left side of the touch screen doesn't respond. I took it to the dealer and I was out of warranty. I even contacted Toyota USA Customer Service; they said warranty is warranty.

I have read many forums asking about this issue. If it was a known issue, why wasn't it recalled and corrected? Why does it have to be under warranty to have it fixed for free?

They only recall issues that have to do with the safety components of a vehicle. The touchscreen is not a safety feature.

The touchscreen feature allows Toyota Owners to follow the Law....

Also from an owners standpoint, if my touchscreen quite working and I couldn't use my phone via hands-free usage, I would be highly peeved also. These units are failing at an unacceptable rate. It is a known issue and people bought their Toyota vehicle because they wanted a quality vehicle.

I disagree. It’s not a safety issue. Just wait till you get to where you’re going and then make the call. Even hands free phone calls is distracted driving.

OF COURSE YOU DISAGREE. WHAT A JOKE. Typical toyota avoiding the recall. I still remember the fiasco with the acceleration deaths. I guess it only takes one person who buys this car for hands free for this not to work to get into an accident or get a ticket to do something

2014 Camry, same problem can’t pair/add phone to the bluetooth. I can’t say when it stopped working, you don’t know till you need it with getting a new phone. Toyota Service was rude stating for a thousand dollars they can replace the radio. So disappointed that this is a known issue and Toyota doesn’t make it good regardless of age or mileage since as the customer we were was not informed of the problem by the Toyota dealership when our cars were still under warranty, shame on you.

Same issue, 2014 Camry.

You can get a new digitizer for around 100 bucks online and there are YouTube videos on how to disassemble the radio and install it which are reasonable if you are even mildy mechanically inclined .

I got a new phone, tried to pair it to my car, the add button doesn't work because the touch doesn't work on the lower part of the screen. I am at 38300miles. WTH. Took it to my local Toyota, and they said,"the warranty is the warranty". I was like WTH. They said they will call Toyota HQ and ask for a good faith repair. So we'll see in an hr. I can't believe it's a known issue, and they didn't do a recall etc. If they are not willing to cover the repair, I will go to Twitter, social media about this.

Mine is doing the Same thing. The Toyota dealership said they could do a diagnostic test on it for $108. So what is the fix to this?

I just got to start driving a 2015 Camry and I had this problem where I wasn’t able to click the middle and left side of the bottom row. My dad ended up tinkering with it for a bit and he discovered that if you want to add a phone and don’t have any linked to it, all you have to do is press on the phone button below the track button on the right side of the screen. Afterwards a menu pops up asking if you want to pair your phone with the car and you press yes and connect the two. I hope this ends up helping. Good luck!

I just fixed the problem on my 2014 Camry. The issue is not a calibration, computer or refresh issue. The "digitizer" (touch screen) has become defective and will require replacement. Basically it is the flat piece of glass that sits right in front of the display screen. Go to youtube and search "toyota digitizer replacement" for tutorials. Not for the faint of heart. The replacement touch screens are on ebay for 20-100 dollars or so. I got mine for about 25 dollars and it took me about 3 hours total. This is your only option other than big money. The OEM digitizer has become defective. Good luck, it can be done.

That is the same video I used to do the screen in my 2014.5 Camry yesterday. I also used this video to get the radio out:

There are numerous other videos showing similar replacements for other Toyota models including later Camrys and I have read this same screen is also used on some Lexus vehicles. The touch screen you need for most of the ones discussed here is the "6.1" screen with the ribbon cable exiting the vottom in the middle, just like the one on Amazon in the above post. I believe thy 6.1 refers to the diaganol measurement, but I haven't measured it yet. Every touch screen device in the world used a digittizer, and this is not the first time I have had one go bad. The only tools I needed for the Camry procedure were a 12mm socket, a 10mm socket, a regular phillips screwdriver and a precision phillips screwdriver. Some of the work is delicate, but it is not rocket science.

I really doubt you are going to see a recall and if there is a class action suit that could take years. The dealer is not going to replace just this screen; they will likely try to sell you the entire radio or at least the whole display unit for $$$. This is a chance for you to fix your defective touch screen NOW for very little money, but you will have to take the bull by the horns and do it. Good luck, it is more doable than you think!
