I enjoyed my time at Carey. I think classes are teachers are very good. I wish they did a better job prepping students for college and teach us resources such as loans, scholarships, army, etc. Also wish they had programs to help us get ahead in college such as medical assistant certification, dental assistant certification, etc.

From a class of 2023 alumni,
Do NOT send your kids to this school. Not only will it not prepare them for life and college ahead, the environment is corrupting.
Teachers (for the most part) don’t care about education and simply sit around bored. The inconsistency between teachers who don’t care at all and those that push students far past their limits makes for a bad academic style.
If your child isn’t
1. a Franklin Square native
2. an avid sports player
3. From the FS UFSD
They won’t have a normal high school experience. Expect rampant bullying, stressful behavior, and bad actions which result in little-to-no punishments.
The administration of this school fails to assist parents and students in their endeavors, expect to be treated as a nobody unless you’re a part of the many families that are “native” to the area since the 1980s.
The school has been rapidly deteriorating since 2020, whether it’s due to the pandemic or the administration.
Don’t send your children here.

the old people of this horrible school need to retire. they’re over retirement age and don’t belong here. they’re very rude to the students and think they’re some kind of leader. they don’t make the students feel welcome. those old hags carmody and rockfart are so rude to the students and no one likes them. just ask any student if they like them and they will say no. this school needs better staff for the library since they’re so rude.you can’t ven be comfortable in the library. if you close your eyes they’ll say you’re not allowed to. if your try to walk pass the library to get to your next class they’ll say your not allowed too. these women also have favorites. when a colored person tried to drink in the library she said she wasn’t allowed too, but so many white people bring their starbucks and they don’t they anything to them. they’re racist and very unfair. they also wanna get smart with you. they’re very rude and shouldn’t be hired in this school. they’re too old anyways

Carey High school was a great experience. Everyones very friendly and it feels as if we are all one big family! The sports games are exciting to watch but certain sports get treated better than others. Football and Lacrosse gets most of the money leaving softball with not much. The softball fields are always a mess and never properly cared for. Softball has old jerseys while the boys teams are always getting new and expensive jerseys and merchandise. Its just sad to see one sport get treated better than the others.

Carey is a very large school housing student's from grade 7 to grade 12. While the school is very large, administration does a wonderful job making sure every student is safe, learning effectively, has the opportunity to play in all kinds of sports ranging from junior varsity for the 7th and 8th graders and varsity for the 9th through 12th graders. There are a wide range of clubs and activities for the student's to join. The staff is friendly, always there to answer questions the parents may have or provide extra help to the student's if they need it. My daughter who will be attending college in the fall had to have a spinal fusion surgery in 2022. The guidance department went out of there way to get her home instruction while she was recovering and has always been there to help my daughter in any way possible. The only thing I can recommend is that the college process was not very informative from the school. I have felt lost and confused many times as to what to do.

I love my school and my teachers are awesome. Especially my art teachers!
The only change I can think of is the bathrooms for ALL genders/trans kids needs, to be more options besides one single bathroom.

Teachers were somewhat nice and supportive. Some of the faculty were really rude though. There is blatant favoritism and racism towards students and the school doesn’t do anything about it. Not a very diverse or inclusive environment. Very old building with poor facilities and resources. Needs to do better with how they run things. Students activities and extracurriculars don’t receive enough or any support from the school at times. School only cares about sports. Award shows are constantly based on favorites. Parents are basically giving their own kids awards. PTA runs everything and the same students get awards and opportunities that they don’t deserve.

The teachers at Carey a very kind and always looking out for their students. The teachers always go out their way to include their students and always make sure they do their bests. Some of my best experiences were going to football games with friends and being in a very fun and comfortable environment.

Carey is a school in the Sewanhaka school district. They can not keep up with the growing demands of female equality in sciences and sports. This year our daughter is a scholar athlete with abilities but you would never know it there is little fuss for sports and less in honors. The school is too large and serves 7-12 grades. There are too many systems to navigate for clubs, supports, and apps that do not sync together. If you want to be in a robotics program that is only offered in the neighboring high school in the district no bus transportation system is provided but if you are in sports the bus is always waiting. It's very strange that they can't offer the same programs in every school and that they also don't plan to bring the best of children in each area together to formulate the best programs. Its antiquated and needs a fresh look. The teachers are great the system is old.

I liked a lot of the teachers and being on a sports team. I didn't enjoy high school as a total that much but I think that's a normal way to feel.

Carey High School offered advanced, technical programs to be taken at another facility in the district. However, the administration, counseling especially made the school horrible. College prep felt completely individual with little outside help from those designated to that responsibility. Classes were state standard, no STEM on campus, and grades go from 7-12. Just some of the many problems…

The teachers and staff there are kind and helpful. However, I think there needs to be change so that every kid gets an opportunity.
