Earl Jerome Hughes, 48, of Springfield, Ohio, formerly of 514 Fayette Martinsville, was sentenced in Martinsville Circuit Court to three, three-year prison terms, to run concurrently. The sentences came after he pleaded guilty to statutory burglary, possession of a firebomb and unlawful wounding, records said. The unlawful wounding charge was reduced from malicious wounding, records said.

Hughes was charged in connection with two separate attacks, according to records. In the first incident, Barbara Jean Hodnett of 512 Fayette St. was walking home on Feb. 1. 1991, when she was struck with a brick and choked.

In the second incident, Hughes was accused of pushing open the door to Hodnett's apartment on March 24, 1991, records said.
