If the other two options are similar to this one in EVERY aspect, then yes I agree that a higher price does not make sense, but at the very least, this one is better articulated, and there's problems with the other two options besides just the price. You mentioned that "Alot of people said the problems of Mackron couldve been overlooked if it was cheaper", then the corollary to your statement is that people should be willing to pay more for a better quality product, no? "a competitively priced option" can not be lower than UT's 249.99. As I said some people were expecting a price cheaper than that, and those are the ones I call delusional. There are people expecting NA to leave money on the table to make up for their previous choices, but why should companies do so? I mean I still have figures like MP Ramjet in my collection, does that mean every company going forward should make a G1 Ramjet for a price lower than what I paid for Takara's offering?

When both your competitors are releasing the same product as you, and both are losing sales because the price for both are considered too high by the buyers, would it not be good business to give the buyers what they want with a cheaper option? I have no idea what you're trying to bring in with the Coneheads. But going back on topic, this isn't the first time Newage made this mistake.
When they released Mista, despite it being a great figure, the overwhelming majority of people were in agreement that it was overpriced, and that lead to Mista going on sale in most places. It didn't help that it started getting KOd, and then the CE version came out with a better robot mode for cheaper.
Is the Newage Megatron better than UT? Probably. But when the price of UT Megatron is what held many buyers back, why would they go even MORE expensive? So again, I do not think it's delusional to ask for Newage Megs to be cheaper than the UT one.

Unique Toys R-05 Desperado Megatron Battle Damaged Version
AlienAttack Toys AAT-01 Mackron MegatronBoth say Sold Out, and UT is reissuing their Desperado because of poor sales? You are in the 3rd party thread here where there's plenty of people with moolah. Please don't make up your own fiction.

Whether it's worth 40 dollars more is clearly on the eyes of the beholder, that much we can agree with, and it's 288, not 300. Earlier someone also said that this one is 100 more. There's no need to over exaggerate stuff.Anyway, my suggestion to people here is to start using Taobao, and yes there's a How to use Taobao thread somewhere in this site. You'll possibly be looking at 260 or below.

Read carefully before you reply. I never said they sold poorly, I said they were losing tons of potential customers who thought the price was too high, because Desperado was available for quite a bit before it sold out. And Mackron definitely needed a couple sales to entice people.
The reissue by UT is definitely to try and compete against Newage. It might even be cheaper than the original release. Either way, if people were already calling UT too expensive I doubt Newage making it 40 dollars more is a good idea, especially when their last product had the same issue of being overpriced and having to go on sale.

Not surprising given that their Soundwave was at a high price when it released and how other DOTM Megatron were at similar prices when it released. But we could always nag and complain to the newage or something to lower the price. I remember hearing that UT Desperado reissue will be sold at wholesale price so it most likely will be cheaper than Newage megatron. But yeah, not looking good Newage

At this point, you are just confusing yourself. They didn't sell poorly and then they sold outSelling out on the first day or by whatever day you decided to pick out is your own metric of success, not UT's. If UT had deemed Desperado's sales to be subpar, they wouldn't be reissuing the figure, would they? This figure is currently set to be released come Q4, so sometime around Thanksgiving and XMas, only a HUGE economic crash will prevent this thing from selling well. UT understands Western customers too well

You know what did have poor sales? Newage’s mista/soundwave. It had similar reactions to its price.

Damn but it's expected. Going to start saving up now so I can get him after a year lol. There's no rush for me. But if bmb comes out with their usual better painted UT KO (surprised they haven't ko'ed desperado yet) then NA will hit a huge bump.

Yet. How long does it usually take for a KO to come out? I've only been collecting for about a year so I have no frame of reference.
