Hubstaff Talent is a free job posting site for companies to source and hire remote freelancers by either posting jobs or searching for talent in the Hubstaff Talent database. A standout feature of Hubstaff Talent is that it syndicates your job postings across other sites and social media to maximize reach, all at no additional cost.

Hubstaff Talent includes free syndicated job postings and candidate search functionality.

Job Posting

As an employer, you can post a job in Hubstaff Talent’s global network of freelancers and agencies. It was simple to post a job by entering the job title, job description, desired years of experience, location and more. You can also enter the type of job, whether full time, fixed price or hourly.

You can even pose custom screening questions to know more about the candidate than what’s on their profile or in their résumé.

Search

If you’d rather take a more active approach to sourcing and engaging freelancers, you can use its search function. You can apply a variety of filters to the results, for example, by skill, availability, pay rate, experience and more. You can also choose to see results from agencies as opposed to individual freelancer profiles.

If you find someone you’re interested in, you can click on their profile preview to learn more. Freelancer profiles feature their résumé, a brief introduction, their desired pay rate, years of experience and more. However, a drawback of Hubstaff Talent compared to similar job sites, such as Guru, is that you can’t see a freelancer’s reviews to see what past employers thought about their work.

In addition, when searching for UI/UX designers, we didn’t see links to portfolios on any candidate profiles, even though freelancer designers do have the ability to add portfolio links. It would be helpful to have a filter to see only profiles that display a portfolio of past work or a link to one.

Hubstaff Talent is completely free. There are no hidden fees and no paid plans.

Hubstaff Talent facilitates self-help through its knowledge base. Otherwise, you can get in touch via email, live chat or phone call. Phone support is available Monday through Friday from 3 a.m. to 9 p.m. Eastern time.

We contacted customer support via live chat and received notification in the chat window that our request had been received. However, we did not receive an email confirmation from Hubstaff Talent or an answer to our question about search filters even after two business days at the time of finalizing this review.

Hubstaff Talent vs. Handshake

These job posting sites address different needs. While Handshake is designed to help businesses recruit and hire college students or college graduates, Hubstaff Talent is oriented toward companies that want to hire independent contractors. However, just because they serve different hiring needs and target different demographics doesn’t make these solutions mutually exclusive, especially since Hubstaff Talent is free and Handshake has a free version.

Hubstaff Talent vs. Guru

Both Hubstaff Talent and Guru plug you into a network of freelance talent from around the globe. However, there are a few key differences to keep in mind. For one, Hubstaff Talent is completely free. Guru is completely free as long as you pay freelancers using e-check or wire transfer. Moreover, Guru offers more in terms of collaboration and payment options with its WorkRooms and SafePay systems.

Hubstaff Talent vs. Ladders Recruiter

Hubstaff Talent and Ladders Recruiter serve different hiring needs. While Hubstaff Talent connects your company with freelancers looking for work, Ladders is a more general job posting site to hire experienced professionals as full-time employees.

Setup

Setup is simple by creating a job post and, at the bottom, creating a new account by entering your name, email and creating a password.

Ease of Use

We were only able to test out the job posting and candidate sourcing feature up to a certain point without posting fictitious job ads. However, from what we saw, Hubstaff Talent has a low barrier to entry, making it easy to post your first free job and create a new account all at once.

Additionally, the search function offers plenty of filters to help you find exactly what you’re looking for. However, customer support was unresponsive to our question about filtering candidates who have a link to their portfolio.

Hubstaff Talent is a great way to source, hire and manage freelancers because it’s completely free, and you won’t have to separate freelancers from those seeking full-time jobs.
